Two weeks from today we will know who our next mayor is. The race is being contested with a fair amount of energy  and a potful of yard signs. I’m seeing a lot of he said/she said about Kalahari but not much being said about why we should have a different mayor other than the fact that Ms. Girvan wants the job. To be fair I have not watched the mayor’s performance all that closely over the length of his term but what I have paid attention to has shown me no reason that we should change now. In fact most of what I have read seems to attest to his ability to convince people with different view points to cooperate in order to get the job done. His support of the Kalahari project seems in concert with all but one of the current council members and as I understand it all of them except his opponent support his re-election.   

So, we should replace him as mayor because….? Because Ms. Girvan wants to be mayor? That’s just not a good enough reason for me.
