Murder Most Foul
The dream becomes a nightmare!
I try to focus here on this blog on the positive facets of life here in the Burg and if there is anything good to be found in the story of the death of Yong Hui Zhang it can only be in the community's sympathy and support for a neighbor's loss.
Yong Hui Zhang immigrated to this country 5 years ago from China yearning no doubt for a brighter future. His family owned and operated the China Express Restaurant on Route 1 next to the bus station. On the evening of July 3rd he left the restaurant with three food orders for delivery. According to the reports the first two deliveries were made but at the third address he was murdered. Although official identification and cause of death are pending the results of an autopsy, police found his body and his missing car Sunday morning about 140 miles south of Fredericksburg in Sussex County. Jermaine Montgomery, 34, and his girlfriend Marcey White, 36, have been taken into custody and have been charged with abduction, carjacking, credit card theft and conspiracy. Authorities have not yet announced whether or not the two people in custody will be charged with murder as well.
My interest in this crime is a bit more personal, since I
eat lunch regularly at China Express and am acquainted with all the folks that
work there. The restaurant is closed now as the family grieves their loss
and the people of our community rally as best they can to support a neighbor in
their time of loss.
Flowers left by sympathetic neighbors at China Express
Less than a month ago, we as a community, suffered another horrible loss in the ambush and
gunshot death of Fredericksburg police officer Todd Bahr on June 6th.
It just doesn’t seem right that two young men who were just doing their jobs should die like this.
